In the beginning....

Welcome to my moments of musings! You know I read others blogs and think to myself, "They are so creative and interesting that I bet if I ever had one people would probably never read it." Well, I guess we'll see now! I plan on using this as a way for family and friends to have access to the goings on of my life as my life, like many others, is so busy on a daily basis that it is difficult to keep in touch, no matter how hard we try.
Guess I will start off with a summary of me (is that correct grammar?) and where I am in my life for those who may not know. At the ripe old age of 32 *gasp* I find myself living in a small city in the best state in the country. I work in a public school system as a school psychologist and have embarked on my sixth year of practice. When I realized I was turning 30 I literally almost face-planted in the parking lot of a mall. Thank God I was holding on to my mother's arm at the time or else I would have.  Considering that, I wonder what kind of reaction I will have when I realize that I am embarking on my tenth year of practice! Geez.
Two years ago I decided I might as well start taking the steps to fully be a grown up and bought a small townhouse in a greatly developing downtown area. It's a cute two-story craftsman style pink townhouse with the best little covered front porch overlooking.... wait for it.......................................... a water tower! However, let's not despair because out of my bedroom window I have the best view of the skyline of downtown. Sometimes, during the minor league baseball season I can see the glow of the fireworks from the stadium. It takes me about 5-10 minutes to walk to fantastic restaurants, theaters, bars, antique shops, spas, etc. I love my house! I love it's location! It's perfect for the professional, single, intelligent, somewhat spunky redhead!

Almost exactly a year ago I added another "person" to my house. I already had a chinchilla, Ariel, whom I do love but she is not very interactive like my last one. Admittedly feeling lonely I decided, since I have a house now, it was time to think about getting a dog, a small dog, not a puppy. I was talking to my neighbor about this one day and she convinced my to go to the local shelter just too see what kind of dogs they have.  So, we picked a date to go look, she swearing to her husband that she won't bring one home and I swearing to myself that I was just going to look. Well, I bet you know the rest of the story having, perhaps, experienced it yourself.  We walked up and down the aisles looking at all the adorable doggies. I saw some that I would be interested in but when we turned down the last aisle I saw three very cute puppies who were sticking their noses through the cage with the most wanting look on their faces! My friend asked me if I wanted to take them out for a walk into the play area. I didn't know we could that so she grabbed a couple of leashes and we opened the cage. All three of them backed away immediately but the blonde one with the beard and the jack russell looking stripe down it's nose and the tan jack russell looking one did retreat as far as the black one did. Loving the look of the one with the beard I went to pick it up. It didn't move and easily came into my arms. I put it on my chest and that's when it happened. It put it's head on my shoulder digging into my neck and I fell immediately in love!! So, her name is Piper. She is a year and a half old this month and is 32 lbs. of adorableness (is that even a word? it is now!)! Haven't had a boring night since I got her and am so glad that she chose me!!

Around the same time, before I got Piper, I got a second job. I work at Ann Taylor Loft and yes I have a very good discount! I really like it, like my co-workers, the clientele, and the store itself! I already loved the product so it was a no brainer. I got it to help lessen debt and I am, but my wardrobe has also grown by leaps and bounds too. It's tough to not walk out of there without something in your hand, real tough at times like the past two days all sale was an additional 40% off. See what I mean? That's better than my discount, in fact it was my old discount.
Speaking of being glad that someone chose me, coming up on six months now I met a man online and for the first time ever, he lived in the city I lived in! Hip hip hooray!! He is a wonderful man all around, total package! It been a long time since I have felt like a very lucky person! At the moment it is tough because he started graduate school but he is also working and completing an internship all at the same time! Yeah, I wonder how he is able to remember to breathe too! Needless to say there is little time in both our schedules for what I call QT (quality time) but we do the best we can and any time we get to spend together is worth the wait. If you know me you know that I am an open book but given the public nature of this I think that I will limit the information I place on here in regards to my relationship out of respect to my boyfriend and because it doesn't need to be out there for anyone and everyone to read. So if you want to know more, you're going to have to ask me.
With that, I will leave this long entry there. Everyone have a fantastic and safe Halloween! To all the new mom's out there, enjoy this, now, extra special holiday with your new bundle of joy!

  1. Your house looks awesome in snow... I was thrown off at first, I thought that was a recent picture. Then I saw the wreath on the door. and the pictures of Piper are wonderful!
